What is Aligned Execution?

The word alignment originates from the French term, “aligner,” meaning “to put in line.” Alignment flows from a communicating organization and team so that all members understand their shared purpose, the needs and goals of differing parts and where each person’s individual contribution fits within the whole.

Building engagement around performance is the foundation for execution. This means having conversations around chosen commitments and accountability.

Alignment also requires that individual goals “nest” within larger departmental or program goals, which in turn “nest” within the strategic organizational goals. These are developed, revised and remembered through action planning and regular conversation.

Alignment is supported by identifying success measures for key goals and behaviorally demonstrated values, so you know what success looks like. At the same time, rewards and recognition that fit individual needs are linked to performance.
